Why does your Lilium OT Revelation have fine webbing? Diagnose the cause and fix it with our step-by-step guide.
The fine webbing is a classic sign of spider mites, which thrive in the warm, dry conditions often experienced by OT hybrids like 'Revelation'. These arachnids pierce lily cells to feed, causing the characteristic silk webs and stippling on leaves.
While less common for webbing, certain mite species can create fine silken structures around lily buds and leaf axils in high-humidity environments. They can cause distortion of the 'Revelation' lily's large blooms.
Very low humidity can cause the plant's fine hairs (trichomes) to trap dust and debris, which may mimic a web-like appearance. This is often accompanied by desiccated leaf edges in Oriental lilies.
