Why does your Lily Tango Dot have sudden leaf drop? Diagnose the cause and fix it with our step-by-step guide.
Tango Lilies are sensitive to sudden fluctuations in temperature, especially cold drafts or rapid drops at night. A sudden drop in ambient temperature can trigger a stress response where the plant sheds foliage to conserve energy.
Excessive moisture in the substrate prevents oxygen from reaching the roots, leading to root rot. As the root system fails, the plant can no longer support its foliage, resulting in rapid leaf senescence and drop.
High humidity and poor airflow can promote Botrytis, which attacks tender lily tissue. The fungus causes leaves to weaken rapidly at the base of the petiole, leading them to detach from the bulb/stem.
A lack of available nitrogen prevents the plant from maintaining chlorophyll and structural integrity in older leaves. In extreme cases, the plant will shed lower leaves to prioritize the survival of the bulb.
