Simple rules every plant owner should know
Most indoor plants prefer to dry out slightly between waterings. Stick your finger 2 cm into the soil: if it still feels moist, wait another day or two. Succulents need even less: once every 2–3 weeks in summer is usually plenty.
Each plant page lists its preferred exposure: Sun (direct light 6+ hours), Half Shade (bright indirect), or Shade (low-light tolerant). Use our exposure filter on the browse page to narrow down plants suited to your window orientation.
Tropical indoor plants love humidity above 50% and temperatures between 18–27 °C. Keep them away from cold draughts and radiators. Outdoor varieties are more resilient, but always check the hardiness zone listed on the detail page before planting in exposed spots.
Use the Pet Friendly filter on the Plants page to instantly see non-toxic varieties. Popular safe choices include spider plants, Boston ferns, and most palms. Always double-check with a vet if you are unsure about a specific species.
